Vogue- Madonna (practice music video)
What went well:
-The panning shot of the carpark was smooth and the lack of cars and people gave an eerie effect

-The editing went well with the music, for example the different poses during the clicks, the train shots and the change of colour during the close up of the ribbon
-The mis-en-scene was thought out by using a dark colour pallete to make the pointe shoes stand out and the use of a rougher setting, a multi storey carpark, to contrast with the ballet dancers who are associated with a more traditional and desirable location
-Both dancers wore the same outfits which looked effective because they were both black which looked smart, adding further contrast to the carpark setting, and also fitted the general colour palette of the video plus their black colour created silhouette-like effect

-The black and white scenes were a homage to the official Vogue music video
What could be changed:
-I could have used a larger range of shots
-The lighting in the beginning scenes may have looked better if it was a bit brighter as it was sometimes tricky to make out what was in the clips which could be improved by shooting earlier in
the evening
-The dancers may have looked less washed out if they had makeup put on before standing underneath the bright lights which could be have been solved by doing test shots before shooting
-The dark costumes sometimes made it tricky to see the dancers as they were at times lost against the dark background

You have used shots from the video well to demonstrate your reflections on the video. Try to consider what you learned from this experience that you will take forward to your final product. What would have been the effect of using a larger range of shots? How could you make the dancers stand out more against the dark background?
