Spike Jonze

-Born on 22 October 1969 as Adam Spiegel in Rockville, Maryland
-He began his career as a teenager by photographing BMX riders and skateboarders for Freestylin’ Magazine and Transworld Skateboarding and also co-founded the youth culture magazine Dirt
-He began filmmaking when he started shooting street skateboarding films including the influential Video Days (1999)
-Jonze co-founded the skateboard company Girl Skateboards in 1993 with riders Rick Howard and Mike Carroll
-Jonze’s filmmaking style made him an in demand music video director and he collaborated with Sonic Youth, Beastie Boys, Fatboy Slim, Daft Punk, Weezer, Bjork, Kanye West and Arcade Fire
-He started feature films in 1999 directing Being John Malkovich and has since won 5 awards for feature films
-He has also worked as an actor sporadically throughout his career
